With huge pent-up demand for retirement accommodation in South Africa – particularly with quality medical facilities on site – the availability for purchase of three leading frail care centres in upmarket retirement villages and three individual two-bedroom units offers lucrative investment opportunities for the savvy buyer.
So says MC du Toit, CEO of Sales for BidX1 South Africa: “These and other well-positioned investment properties are up for sale on our next online property auction on 4 December (2019).
“All three centres will be sold separately and then together, while the three two-bedroom units – which are located in Villa Cortona Retirement Village in the Cape – will be sold individually and completely separately from the frail care centres. Tenanted mixed-use building in Durban North

The unit is part of a rental pool.
In Muizenberg, a well-positioned two-bedroom apartment in a high demand area goes on auction with a reserve price of R1.5 million. With two bathrooms, secure underground parking and an open-plan lounge and kitchen area, the unit is situated in a well-maintained block with its own variety of restaurants and shops, and with further trendy restaurants a short walk away.
Muizenberg is a popular beachside suburb renowned for its world-class surfing spots, warm water and Blue Flag Beach status.
In Johannesburg, up for auction and being sold together as one lot are two adjacent properties with good redevelopment potential situated across the boundaries of Linksfield and Orange Grove in the north-eastern parts of a well-established mixed-use node only 10km from Johannesburg CBD. Bidding was brisk on BidX1’s recent auction held on 6 November, says du Toit, as eager buyers competed to secure their desired properties.
