From coastal homes to office investments: BidX1 launches new catalogue of South African property

With value-for-money top of mind for consumers as economic activity embarks on a gradual recovery, savvy property buyers and investors are finding that a wide variety of attractive opportunities are currently on offer via online auction, says MC du Toit, CEO of BidX1 South Africa.

“Especially now that the hard lockdown is over and regulations are easing, we are seeing a growing appetite among investors for a diverse range of properties, both commercial and residential, particularly homes in secure lifestyle estates and prime coastal destinations.

“Our forthcoming auction on 29 September provides a range of options in locations around the country, including a development opportunity comprising 22 prime-located, vacant residential stands in Kolgansbaai security village in Gansbaai, right on the ocean edge with spectacular sea and mountain views – and conveniently close to town. This property, which consists of all 22 stands, has an opening bid of R2.2 million.”

Among other appealing coastal properties are a luxurious four bedroom penthouse apartment in Margate on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast with an opening bid of R2 million, and a double-storey, three-bedroom home with a pool and panoramic views of the ocean situated in Dana Bay, only 4km off the N2 and just 12km from Mossel Bay on the Garden Route. With an opening bid of R900 000, this property occupies a tranquil setting with numerous nature, wildlife and leisure attractions, including fishing and golf.

On Beach Road in Strand, just 43km from Cape Town, a three-bedroom apartment with sea and mountain views is being sold with all contents and an opening bid of R800 000, while in Umtentweni on the KZN South Coast is a large family home with an opening bid of R750 000.

In Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, a completely off-grid, four-bedroom home or guest lodge set in an indigenous forest glade has an opening bid of R2.2 million. Just 25 minutes from Port Elizabeth International Airport, the property, which has its own water and solar systems, is five minutes’ drive from swimming beaches and good fishing spots.

A historical manor house in Middelburg, the cultural heartland of Mpumalanga Province, which is currently operating as a guesthouse, is likely to attract significant interest. With 12 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, swimming pool and office, this property has an opening bid of R3 million.

In the commercial sector, a well-located ground floor office or retail space is available for purchase in Umhlanga Ridge just north of Durban, in a sought-after business hub. Comprising 59sqm and with a designated parking bay included, the opening bid is R900 000.

Other commercial properties include an office investment comprising six individual offices, extending to 184sqm. Situated in a centrally located business park with 24-hour security in Bedford Gardens, Johannesburg, the property has an opening bid of R1.1 million.

Meanwhile, 580sqm of office or multi-use space, situated on a major traffic route with excellent visibility and exposure in Beyers Park, Boksburg on Gauteng’s East Rand, has an opening bid of R1.85 million. The property includes multiple car parking bays, store room and strong room, training facility/boardroom, and generous outdoor space with a swimming pool.
