Plymouth is a major commercial centre and Port and lies on the South Devon coast on the east bank of the River Tamar about 30 miles west of Torquay. It is accessed via the A38, which provides direct access to Cornwall to the west and Exeter and the M5 motorway about 43 miles to the north east. Plymouth railway station provides regional rail services as well as direct services to Penzance and London Paddington
