While ‘second-hand’ properties can sometimes be more accessible to those looking for a home or investment property, choosing a new-build has many advantages – and is increasingly the preferred option for first time buyers in Spain.
These properties often allow for more flexible payment options, along with other benefits like improved energy efficiency, modern architecture, and turnkey interiors, not to mention peace of mind when it comes to the standards of construction and materials used.
At the same time, the shift in buyer preferences following the pandemic – outdoor space and terraces are increasingly seen as ‘non-negotiables’ – has also turned home-seekers to New Homes developments, where such amenities are the norm.
Demand for new-build properties is certainly on an upward trajectory, and this is further boosted by interest from foreign buyers. In 2021, visa applications were 20% higher than in previous years, and many expats or those seeking a second home in Spain are choosing new-builds in good locations with carefully curated amenities.
